The soup kitchen team is getting ready to provide Christmas dinner on Christmas Day. Santa plans to make a pre-Christmas visit.

“We’re looking forward to providing a wonderful Christmas meal to our guests,” Director Ed Morgan notes, “and we could use your help.” The soup kitchen is in need of ham, turkey, corn, peas, potatoes, salad, stuffing, gravy, rolls, butter, drinks, coffee and dessert.

On Monday, Dec. 23, Santa Claus will spend time at the soup kitchen (11:30-12:30), distributing gifts to children.

“Thanksgiving dinner was a success with 188 meals and 27 volunteers assisting,” Ed reports. “We prepared 18 turkeys, 60 lbs of potatoes, 36 cans of corn, 48 boxes of stuffing, and about 5 gallons of gravy. Rolls and butter, drinks and coffee, and desserts also were served.”

He notes: “The Knights of St. John collected 146 pies for us to serve this holiday season.”

For the month of November, “we served 4,671 meals.” That included “3,352 adults, 937 seniors, and 382 children.”
