Mother Marianne’s West Side Kitchen provides hot meals and/or bag lunches every day (11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.) to struggling families and individuals, the unemployed, and the homeless. The soup kitchen partners with other agencies to provide informational and educational programs, as well as referrals, for those in need. Founded in 2008, the operation is sustained through volunteers and donations.
The soup kitchen is named after Utica, NY’s first and only saint – Mother Marianne Cope, who grew up in the parish before becoming a Franciscan sister and spending the last 30 years of her life caring for leprosy patients in Hawaii.
